rough start to the season

we were at St Francios State park in Missouri starting on Thursday. We had just finished setting up when the first clap of thunder and then the rain started. Friday morning the ranger stopped by and advised us to packup or we might be stranded for a few days because of rising water. So we headed back up 55 towards home and found a campground just north of litchfield illinois. We spent the rest of the weekend shopping for antiques along 55. Hope the rest of the season goes better. We had a nice time but wet and cool.

A bad day of RVing is better then a good day of working!!

That's what I was thinking! Any day I am at a campground is better than my desk at work!

We were camping on St. Friolo island in the Mississippi at Prairie Du Chein WI. a couple of years ago. There are 2 roads on to the island. One was closed for flooding and the other one we had to watch all weekend because the river rising all week end. By the following week end the both roads were closed. Always fun camping.

We live about 5 miles from the Mississippi as the crow flies, and always camp on the river, so this is the norm for us. In fact I have been stopping by the campground on my way home from work the last couple days and probably will the rest of the week. The river has reached the top of the banks and we could get shut down this weekend.
  • Nice state park campgropund as are almost all in Missouri, this one is electric only but has pull throughs check out MO state parks they have a complete listing If you are looking for full hookups look at cuivere river state park just north of St Louis at Troy. One ofour favorites with full hookups. Reseravations are an excellent idea as most parks fill quickly, you can do them at that same website.
  • How did you like it there? I'm trying to find nice parks near StL.
  • We just got back today from the first real trip of the year. It was at the beach and windy the entire time. It was probably 20+ MPH constantly. If it was warm out then the wind wouldn't be a problem, but when it's only 50 out with the strong wind then it feels much colder. This was probably the first camping trip that I wanted it to end quickly. :-(
