Gosh, you already put it on! The time to ask those questions was before you bought it and installed it, not after.
But since you asked, washing the rubber roof actually serves to hasten its demise. Let me explain. The roof is designed to gradually shed its white layer as its deteriorates due to UV light exposure. The spent roof particles adhere to the intact roof and protect the intact white layer from UV light exposure. When you remove that spent layer- I bet you saw a milky white rinse water during the washing process which was that spent layer being removed- the fresh intact layer is now exposed to the UV light which will shed and the process starts over.
Many roof coatings can actually damage the roof. Petroleum distillates will ruin a roof softening the rubber material and soaking through to the glue and causing the roof to no longer adhere to the sub-roof material. Many of these so called "roof protectors" actually contain petroleum distillates. Check your label. You may have seen a RV coming towards you with the roof bellowing in the wind. Now you know what causes that!
The best strategy for rubber roof maintenance is to do nothing. Parking it under cover, away from direct sunlight and therefore UV light exposure serves its longevity the best.
