Rural PA roads may be a Crock

On Friday, driving on a rural PA road, I came upon a disabled Honey Wagon. He had just crossed a rough spot, caused by a sunken culvert pipe, and the result was a frame completely broken in half. I asked, and he said the truck was empty, but his underwear may need a dump. That gouge in the road is from the framework plowing the asphalt. Something to keep in mind, that truck had a massive frame when compared to the average RV trailer.

  • Our California roads, highways, and freeways have to be near the top of the list of the worst.
  • In May we went to Yellowstone and back. We found that most of Pa's roads were as good if not better than many of the states we traveled through.A few years ago, the legislature raised the gas tax and many other fees. There is a lot of road work going on in the state right now.6 miles of Rt422 in western Berks County is getting a complete overhaul.

Like many states, Pennsylvania's highway infrastructure is is poor condition. Many roads and bridges need rebuilt/replaced, including the Interstate system.

I wonder if the honey truck weakened or cracked the frame from bouncing along the back roads and the sunken culvert finished the job?

The roads are not a big concern. The important thing is, we have enough money to hand out free cell phones.

More than likely the FRAME of the truck was most likely severely "weakened" from RUST caused by ROAD SALT and the "bump" in the road put the frame out of it's misery...

And yes, PA's roads lack proper maintenance but there ARE many other states that I have been in that often top the list for bad roads..
