RV Boondocking on city streets - where is it legal?

Small towns would almost assuredly question you and ask you to move to proper facilities. The police in the small towns have much more time to pursue such situations than their big city counterparts. Also, most small towns would be very suspicious of strangers just parking.

In addition to Free Campgrounds there's also Free Campsites, Casino Camper and of course WalMart. Always ask first. Some local governments do not allow overnighting at WalMart or other places.
There are more sites for boondocking and overnighting. Just do a little research.

If you have to camp for free, please use accepted Walmarts and Truck Stops. Don't squat on city streets. You will give all Rvers a bad rap and impression to the general public.
Walmarts and Truckstops allow overnight stays and some casinos but it isn't camping, just shut the door and get a few winks and move on.

After what happened in California, one should always at least check Google to check for local ordinances against it. They seem to be very common these days.

Of course, there are other places to overnight other than the street. One might have to be creative, and the size of the motorhome can be an advantage of disadvantage.

Also be aware that there are more than just LEOs looking to meet their quota that can be an issue. There are always the local hobos who will be more than happy to sell you a couple nails and razor blades for $20 that otherwise would wind up "installed" in your rig's tires. Especially on the street where the local low-lifes can jump a fence or two and be completely uncatchable.
