RV De-Humidifiers & Heated Hoses

In truly cold weather a heated hose is not going to work for 'shore water supply'. Use the on board fresh water tank. Drain the hose after use.

We use a electric water collecting dehumidifier 3 gallon capacity. Honestly this virtually solves all our humidity problems completely. We store it in te shower and often dry swim suits and towels over night. It does make noise but being in the bathroom no problem there. Does the whole trailer end toend.

I full tijed for many years and alwayws successfully used a fresh water heat tape. Never a problem. Not sure why other person said it would'nt work? bEST OF LUCK

What location? There are people who have used fresh water hoses with heat tape in conditions well below freezing. It is all about insulation and making sure that the area where the connection resides is kept warm. If one doesn't wrap the hose properly, or uses too narrow a hose (5/8 should be minimum), freezing can happen a lot quicker.

What brand is your de-humidifier, OasisBob?

I like the heat tape idea, but wondered if the heated-hoses currently on the market had improved to the point of investing in one.

We'll still be in the DC area -which, of course does not have winter temps like Montana or Wyoming. We've done a little bit of 'cold weather' camping in our TT, but not a full-on winter. Our MH has never been in snow.

Try it at -37 C (-34 f) and let me know when the hose freezes.

-34 degrees is a different story altogether. Propane has almost no vapor pressure at that temperature, so it requires not just keeping the fresh water lines warm, but keeping the propane warm enough to keep flowing. In those temperatures, pretty much nothing will do the job next to having some type of propane furnace or other heater and a way to circulate air between the bottom of the rig and the water pipe.

However, for temperatures that go from 32 to 0 degrees (0 to -18 degrees C), a heater strip will be of use.

It all depends on location. If I were in northern Texas or Oklahoma, a heat tape would definitely be of use. NoDak? Completely different story.

It holds 16oz and sits on a counter top. Very quiet. It also nearly killed the potted plant in my sticks-n-bricks bathroom when I forgot to turn it off. I couldn't understand why my new plant drooped after only one day LOL. I mean, I know I have bad luck with potted plants, but this was a record! Turned off the Eva Dry and watered the heck outta it and it perked right up again.

I will test it out more this winter for ski season. I want to see what works better:

1) wet ski/snowboard clothes in bathroom with Fantastic Fan going overnight (this works in summer, but gets COLD in winter).

2) wet ski/snowboard clothes in bathroom with Eva Dry going... and a window cracked to help with condensation.

Propane boils/vaporizes at -44F
while not a lot pressure, you are not looking for pressure after all regulators are set in WC inches that equal to about 7 lbs

Might want to re-type the 7 lbs. That will give somewhere around 16 FEET W/C. 7 ounces will be a lot safer. ;)
