Laugh all you want, but I have an electric vehicle I've owned for five years and commute with every day. I save more than $8 daily versus driving my diesel pickup which gets 17mpg empty. 34 miles round trip, I always plug it in at home and at work. Hans e.
apples and oranges. EV vs a large diesel pickup. how much would you save had you bought a small rice burner to commute in instead of the EV?

Well, mine was a conversion kit and I'm into it for around $2000 total. Had some issues early on, and that was frustrating because I was using a firm out of Canada who gets their parts from China, but the last two years have been problem free. It's not for everyone, I know that. And for the record Bumpy, I'm a huge diesel fan, I too own a VW Jetta that is diesel powered (2006 TDI 6spd) and never gets less than 43mpg city and 48mpg hwy. An amazing car, just like the big guys, that little 1.9 diesel pulls hard out of the basement all the way to redline, and at 86,000 miles has never been to the dealer for a single repair. Hans
