I have ~$15k in my EV conversion, not including my labor (it was a labor of love, so it's either priceless, or valueless, not sure which...). And a lot of it was using used parts. It's fully freeway capable, and a daily driver for my average of 35 miles/day. I just turned over 10k miles on it since last October.
I can make it look cheap, or I can make it look expensive. Just depends on how you look at the numbers. As Twain said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." I can make the data look any way I want it too. So can you.
Makes no difference to me when people hate on the alt fuel movement, it works for me and many others, and will steadily grow. I make my choices, and vote with my wallet. And my wallet is paying for solar on my roof instead of gasoline lately. :B
