Saw on yesterday's news that Washington state has a surprise for EV owners. A hundred dollar tax because they DON'T use gasoline. I'm telling you, if you don't already know it, there is not enough money in the world to sate our various governments' voracious appetites.
That hasn't happened yet, but it might. Here in Washington State we have no state income tax, just a very high sales tax, fuel tax, and property tax. So many people are driving very fuel efficient cars, and people like me who commute using no petroleum fuel are paying nothing into the system that was designed to build and upkeep our highways and roads.
We have seen proposals for mileage taxes, you would pay based on annual miles driven. While I don't like any new taxes myself, I do see a day where there will have to be another way to pay for our roads. How that will mesh with neighboring states is just another complication. Hans
