The French have just introduced a air hybrid that works like an electric hybrid except it doesn't have the very large inefficiencies that occur when generating electricity or using electricity. Has a gasoline engine and 2 large air cylinders instead of batteries. It can start on a full charge of air pressure and then regenerates air pressure by braking like an EV. The gas engine can turn the wheels or add air to the tanks as needed and controlled by the computer. It is basically like an electric hybrid, but lighter and much more efficient. Yahoo had a big article and video on it. It doesn't have all the hazard rare earth chemicals associated with the batteries (also come from countries that don't like us.)Hopefully this will replace the dirty EV's.
