There is a cost to the station for using a card. Should be paid for by the user. 10 cents seems excessive.
at one time the credit card companies wouldn't let them charge less for cash? I guess that day is over?

They lost that one in court.
We find 3% an average cost for a CC payment but some do pay as much as 7.5% (we did before we changed processing companies on some reward cards). Assume a chain of gas stations can get a 2% actually cost then at $4 a gallon the station charge from the CC processor would be 8 cents per gallon to take a CC as payment. There are other costs associated with CC usage.
The question remains will the market permit the seller to raise prices to cover CC usage.
On the up side the seller gets paid at once less the fee and there are no bad checks, etc. Plus people will spend more is they are not using cash in some cases.
