In high school marching band in north central Montana we had to dodge the horse apples on the street during the parades.
my friends went to a small lake in PA camped out. at dawn they heard the clomp, clomp, clomp of horse hooves on the ramp. seemed some amish liked to fish that lake. ramp ended up as you say dodging the fruit.
