Michigan has aplan to have 25% in renewables by 2025. Most of it Wind!
I have a plan to win the power ball also. Plans by politicians mean nothing if the technology doesn't work. Without the subsidies, which end the first of the new year, they must stand on their own. Taxpayer subsidies for failed technologies are ending. I am starting my trip tomorrow and I don't plan on spending $4.00 per gallon, but plans are not facts. I will report the actual fuel prices. - BumpyroadExplorer

Seimens lays off 695 employees as the wind industry collapses all over the world. The energy produced is just too high in cost. Not to worry, we will still have coal and natural gas to power your hybrids.
No help from Texas as they get their wind mills from China, no buy American there.

Odds are most of it will be hot air.

They bring it over without a drivetrain then stuff in a battery and off it goes! 27250 and can get the 7500 rebate. Boy some of you will likly do the math to figure how much it costs us to give them back the money they loan us as a rebate LOL.
Fall is upon us and am setting up the Diesel for winter. Getting the reuired 100,000 mile trans refill and filters I think around 300 bucks. Hope they don't have the new ones at the dealer as might be tempted if they show higher mileage. - SRTExplorerOil is $99 this morning. Waiting for the price of gasoline to bump over $4.00 a gallon. Sigh......:(
- LindsayRichardsExplorerYep, it is a foreign company doing business in the US.
- IroverExplorerI hear that Venazuela owns most of Citgo Oil.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerJust to debunk that incorrect fact that keeps popping up here that the oil companies are 60% owned by foreigners. Hopefully that myth won't be reported again.

We start on a 30 day trip and I am certainly not looking to buying the fuel. It might be $4 by the time I get back. pianotuna wrote:
Hi smk,
How does the air conditioning impact the range on a Leaf?
I estimate between 5% and 10% depending on speed and heat.
And the air works very well since compressor operates at optimum speed at all times. It actually throttles back the compressor speed as less cooling is needed rather than having a clutch to only have on or off. A separate inverter pulls power direct off the 400vdc battery so there is no loss of performance while driving as is very typical of small cars. Just loss of range.
It will cool the car quite well just sitting and that always seems to be a challenge for gasoline cars. With an internet or phone app you can precool the car. You can also have a regular timer to pre cool or heat the car. This is especially good if you are plugged in. You could set a timer to fully warm and deice the car so it is ready to roll for the morning commute. A pre heated or pre cooled car can then use most energy for driving.
It is not for everyone in every situation but it really works well for what it is. Rumor is the soon to be US built version will have a better battery and range for 2013. Hopefully a lower MSRP.
