You are confused the bond market is investing in America the oil commodity is like going to Vegas as it is controlled by the greedy.

The Fed "printing money" in this context isn't the act of physically printing the money as you think, but the creation of it out of thin air $85 BILLION a month of USS Treasury notes and selling them on the market. If you had bought $100 worth of gold last year, you would have much more purchasing power now. Your $100 bill has much less purchasing power than it did a year ago. Sad but true.

All US money is printed by the Bureau Of Engraving, not the Fed, and 90% is to replace torn and worn bills.

Why buy gold? Have you ever OWNED gold? It's a PITA to buy, to hold and to sell. Only insiders have ever shown an ability to make money speculating on gold. You're better off with tax-free muni bonds.

$100 bills are better: a million bucks only weighs 22 lbs (it's a little bulky so you need a suitcase) but Benjamins are fungible everywhere (even in the market alleys of Kabul you can change one at very low or no cost). A million in gold is heavier. Almost anyone can carry $5000-$20000 in Benjamins around in their pockets.

I'm 76, been getting SS for 10 years and it's turned out to be the most reliable of all investments. I could actually live on SS and bank money at the same time. Defend SS with your life! It's the best thing you'll ever see!

Retired people must defend SS at every opportunity. So should everyone else because the money pumped into the economy has a very high Economic Multiplier and enriches everyone.

There is differences of prices in areas of Portland Or. I've seen it from 3.65 and go to another area it will be 3.76-4.00. Well, that is today anyway, but it isn't really going down.

As for expensive gas as opposed to cheap oil, it's no coincidence that it too has doubled since The Great Mistake. It's difficult to control a mobile population. If something isn't done to stop the madness, we ain't seen nothing yet.

HUH? The only good thing that has happened in the last several years is the lack of any real inflation. That said your pension isn't getting smaller each year as much as in the past! Be happy for the small things. If you played the bond market in the last several years you made good money and so on.

Well here in the Portland area reg is $3.69 and diesel is $3.99 back down to a 30 cent difference. I am assuming by early summer gas will be again higher than diesel.
