- Greydog_1ExplorerDon't worry about $4.00 gas. It will soon be gone--into $5.00 gas. Jobs will be lost because no one can afford to commute to work anymore. Travel will become a dream only, no one can afford to keep gas companies in profits. Then the oil companies can increase the price more because we aren't using as much oil products. Won't life be wonderful? Summer gas is more powerful than winter gas I guess. It costs us so much more.

Well, we could start using some of the trillion plus bbls from the US and bring down the world wide price of oil and create tens of thousands of jobs in the US.
2x on that. I expect one plan is to burn all the midde east oil so we can leave region to the clans who will not have money to fight at a great distance.
China has 20/50 year plans. our clowns can't plan for the next afternoon.

- SRTExplorerThis morning Gas Buddy is reporting most of the stations are at $3.89 for gasoline. Wonder how long this will last? This will remove more spendable $$ from peoples wallets. Oil was $96.09 a few minutes ago. we're screwed as always as we don't have any recourse except to use less fuel.
- Gale_HawkinsExplorerWe spiked at $3.49 but is back down to $3.46. Diesel is $3.79 currently locally.
- SRTExplorerAround here gasoline prices have spiked again another 10¢ a gallon. Many stations are now at $3.89 with one station at $3.99. That's going to affect the casual traveler for sure. It will affect my travel for sure. Diesel has remained about the same around $3.95 except for one station which is at $4.23. Seems oil prices are at $96.56 a few minutes ago.
- cekkkExplorerI've been told that higher octanes can make startup in cold weather more difficult. Wonder if that's true.

Back before I was born, my Dad used to rent housing to Army Air Corp airmen and used to get 100 plus octane gas sometimes from them (rationing was in affect) and said it made his car run really hot. These were much different cars and probably doesn't apply to today's vehicles.
I'm fairly certain that is backwards, the higher the octane rating the cooler the fuel burns. More Octane does not equate to more power.
If you have a digital thermometer you can actually see how much cooler your engine runs with higher octane fuel.
And internal combustion engines runs most efficiently as close to boiling as they can be controlled, so most vehicles run just fine on regular unleaded. Hans - Gene_GinnyExplorer

I'm in New Zealand ..... The real eye opener was the octane. Regular here is 91 and premium in 97. Considering that in the USA regular is 87 octane with premium 91 or 92, ....
The difference is the octane rating method.
