My 2 Cents? Pucker factor of 10 when you are relying on your cell GPS and you move into an area where there are no towers and/or the cell service drops to 1 bar or worse. Oh **** - which way now!!??
We have a Rand Mcnally - works good but the Garmin's are more user friendly and much more intuitive.
X10!
A GPS on the dash with a big screen that you can actually see AND works ALL the time. Unlike a phone that requires a cell tower. It's a no brainer if you travel a lot.
The options available on a GPS IMHO far outweigh that of using a phone.
Just a few of many: alerts of speed limit in area, records your speed as you drive, it alerts me of CG's I am passing within whatever mileage I have input, alerts me of when I have programmed it to tell when it was time to start the toad, etc etc
And I am not sure if the cell can but if I change and make a turn other than what was programmed the GPS automatically adjusts my route.
OP. My advice is to buy the one that has the largest screen size.
When I bought mine the TomTom had the largest screen and the only one that was 'text to speech' at the time. I do not have to sit there and plug in all my directions. I talk to it and it looks it up and programs it.
