RV or camping manners....

I could understand if the man was getting ready to pull out but he did not leave for a week after this!

Isn't there a central dumping station?
If so does it show up on the campground's map?

When I camp near a dumping station or bathrooms' septic tank(against my will mind you, LOL) I know what to expect.

Knowledge and it's use is a thing of beauty.

Dang.. Everytime I dumped, either at dump station or on FHU site, I never had a horrible odor. Brief odor opening up the cover but that's about it.

I wouldn't have thought anything about it either. Maybe my olfactory senses are damaged....

Yea... I've never noticed an odor when dumping the tanks. Then again, I have the doughnut ring that forms a tight fit with the sewer line. I've never really given thought to when I dump my tanks... I just do it when it needs to be done.

I've never had odor when dumping mine either, just when I remove the cap and hook to the sewer do I smell anything. If the sites are really close together I'd probably wait until neighbors are done eating because I have a clear elbow and they don't need to see that while eating. Other than that I've never really thought about it.

I'm going to go with the 'you can't fix rude/stupid' theory.

He could have waited an hour or two to dump the tank. If it was necessary to dump at that time, 'I' would have said something to the neighbors who were eating.

Maybe he was upset because he didn't get invited? And maybe, he thinks his doesn't stink? :(

Well next time get your nose out of the cloud and go around to everyone in a mile radius and tell them not to fart while you are having dinner because you will be offended. Shees.

Couple of things come to mind. First, RV park type layouts have utility connections adjacent to the living area of the neighbor. The closer the spaces, the closer the conflict. Second, depending on the pull thru layout, the utility connection can be smack dab in the middle of your neighbor's outdoor living area, or it can be laid out to be to the rear and not in the way. All based on the design.

Now you all are making me wonder as well. Never noticed "excessive odor" except when the dump station's or bathroom's septic tank was being emptied.
Had the .....hell of that happening twice in one summer at two different sites:S. I know where I won't be staying any years in the future no matter how desirable the sites seem:D.

The sites were large sites.
When we dump our black tank we do not smell anything. You can not believe the stench this was when he rudely dumped his tanks during our dinner time with our friends there!
We were there for a couple of months so was not handy to go unhook and go to the dumping station. I guess this man decided to do his weekly dumping that day during our dinner.
As for the rude comment about not farting near us. That is not a problem. And if you can not see anything wrong with what this man did then you have no camping manners.
Or next time you see someone dumping next door to you........Run outside and eat your dinner.

Settle down a little there fella... Even you admitted that when you dump you never get a smell.

One of two things happened here. Either he isn't dumping in accordance with commonly accepted practice, thus having no smell... or something out of the ordinary happened this one time.

Because you don't mention any unusual dumping procedure, it sounds like something out of the ordinary happened this one time he dumped, causing an offensive odor. How is your neighbor supposed to know that THIS IS THE TIME when its going to smell bad? That's not rude, that's just an unfortunate situation. I'm not sure I have ever seen or head of not being allowed to dump your tanks at a certain time.

If he did something on purpose to offend you, or that he should have reasonably assumed it would offend you... THAT would be rude. Cutting through someone else's site is rude. Blasting music at 11 at night is rude. Dumping your tanks... that's a part of camping.

Like I said... I've never really paid any attention to when I dump my tanks. It doesn't smell bad because I use a proper house and fitting. It is an air tight system (except for the roof black tank vent...). If it is going to bother you that I dump my tanks when they are full, let me apologize now...
