I don't understand. Do you mean that he was hooked to his sewer connection right at his site or was it a common dump station? Either way,as long as he was hooked to the dump properly and not spilling out on the ground he was completely within his rights to dump and probably could not anticipate to what degree it would smell. Mine never smells badly when I dump but I do use chemicals. Also, we mostly don't put solid wast in our tanks. Maybe I'm missing something?
The neighbor was doing his dumping chores at the campsite and the sewer was next to the OP's table where they were eating with guests.
It was completely rude to go out, knowing they were eating, and dumping - smell or no. It was rude.
For those of you who don't think it was rude, then you'd probably be one of the rude ones, too.
There are some campgrounds that have the sewer right by the other's patio area. We've been through stuff like this. That's why we hate full hookup sites.
What does one do when they need to dump their tank and the people next to them are outside all the time and eating? I'm serious. We have camped next to people that whenever you turn around, they are always eating something. Whether it's dinner or snacking. Especially those with a bunch of kids.
And then you have those that feel like they need to bring the entire kitchen from home and have all their cooking appliances, coffee makers, fridges, sometimes freezers and etc, outside their camper. A person should not have to deviate their camping because of others, especially when it doesn't violate the rules of the park/campground (like quiet hour rules).
If there is smell from dumping, it isn't going to stop at the next campsite. You will be able to smell it a couple campsites away. So now, people need to walk up and down the road and see if anyone is eating before they yank the handle? :R
