Tawas Point State park (Michigan) opened up an entire dog beach on the bay side of the park a couple of years ago. Dogs can be off leash and the area has some snow fencing on each end as the borders. Huge area, several acres. They put in a wooden walkway complete with a water spigot and buckets to clean your dog up leaving the beach. The Lake Huron side of the park is the better swimming beach for people, but there is still lots of area to swim on the bay side that is not dog beach. This is one of the nicest State parks in Michigan and they are always making improvements.
Thank you for this info - I've got commitments from a bunch of my kids/families for a big family camping weekend there next summer! If I can score reservations.....
