- winnimanExplorer IIAt some point, we may have to insist anyone who is in the high risk category isolate themselves. A few weeks from now, people are going to start running out of food and money. They are going to have to get everyone back to work. I think the only choice they will have is to isolate the people at risk. How long can we shut down commerce before everyone is in trouble.

It's crazy. This manufactured crisis has people stupid. According to the story, Los Angeles Co has a population of 10 million (10,000,000) but only 230 total cases and 2 deaths. That's a crisis? Hell, they abort more babies than that everyday.
You are either on drugs or should be. This pandemic is just starting and is not manufactured. All these steps are an attempt to slow it's spread to prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed. This could be like the 1918 Spanish flu. Italy has been having almost 500 die per day. That would be similar to over 3,000 per day in the US. That is what we are trying to prevent. Everyone should stay home and isolated.
Italy is not a fair comparison. Their population is significantly older. The average age of their fatalities is almost 80. Then again, this is RV.net so I need to consider the audience. ;)
While it’s not manufactured, we’re doing significant harm to our society and it’s not yet clear that it will be worth it. - westernrvparkowExplorerRV Parks being used as quarantine facilities is not going to happen on a wide scale. Will some state try it at some location, probably. But widespread usage is a logistical impossibility.
This crisis will pass like all other crises. The end result will show it wasn't just nothing, nor will it be anywhere close to the doomsday forecasts being thrown about. To me, it seems like the "experts" and the media have all gone to the Weather Channel school of hurricane hype. Predict end of society as we know it to get views and the give a heartfelt "we dodged a bullet" speech after the storm. - Grit_dogNavigator

All it takes is one little pandemic to see what kind of nut jobs walk among us....^ - Cummins12V98Explorer III"Just stay home and quit buying stuff you don't really need right now. Hoarding won't make it go away."

This is exactly the kind of panic no one needs. The "Spanish Flu" was much worse than this, and the fatality rate for this viral infection is skewed toward the very old and infirm. Younger healthy people are affected much less than those who are elderly and have ongoing health issues. The "Spanish Flu" death rate was more than twice what this one is.azdryheat wrote:

The article I read about the Italian death rate said that almost all of the elderly who died had other health issues: diabetes, heart problems, respiratory problems.
Any way you look at it, the over whelming majority of people who are exposed to the infection will be just fine. Panic and FUD does no one any favors. Just stay home and quit buying stuff you don't really need right now. Hoarding won't make it go away. - jdc1Explorer II

Please stay away from Phoenix. I have family there....I don't want your "hoax" mentality to spread. - ppineExplorer II

So where will they come up with a few hundred (maybe more) RVs?
You do not seem to grasp the concept of a pandemic. The virus has mutated from an animal virus. Humans have no immunity to it. This is serious. It is just getting started. People that are arrogant and think they know more than medical professionals are going to make this much worse than it needs to be. - naturistNomadBy this time next year, a dose of reality will be at hand for us all, now won’t it? If, the prognosticators are anyplace close to right, by then around half of us will have had our own personal case of covid-19 from which to recover, and something around a million of us will have been killed by the encounter. I do sincerely hope that every one of us here in this discussion are among the survivors, AND that those who turned out to be wrong will have learned their lesson.
