Rv refrig died.. any suggestions

Rv refrig died.. Rv is a 1999..purhcased it used last year. Ammonia leaked out of it. Called about a new one, $1800. The one that is in ours is a dometic. Thought about a apartment size one, that can be used when plugged in to electric. Rv has generator. Hubby is leaning to apartment one. I would like rv one..but $1800 is money for something we use 3 weeks a year.

    Ammonia smell!
    Look for yellow powder substance around the exterior of the refer in the exterior access.

    Price seems high!
    What is make and model of your refer?
    Some of the cooling units should be about $500 plus installation.
    You could use genset and then have a small inverter, but that takes more batteries.

    That's fine, but you don't want to be relying a generator 24/7 for that.
