Sure it would add hundreds of dollars to the RV's cost - plus take up a little more overall room for this frame - but probably a lot of us would pay the extra $$ when buying a new rig to get this additional piece of mind and better cooling over time. I would have.
(Maybe it's a safety issue ... as the propane line to the refrig would then have to be both very durable and very flexible.)
Were it up to me, I'd make refrigerator unit that used a propane fuel cell, a set of AGM batteries, and a compressor fridge. That way, the refrigerator would need zero access to anything other than propane as a minimum, but could be happy on 120VAC and 12 VDC as well, because to the actual refrigeration mechanism, it all is the same to it.
