A friend call me today, with a question concerning the roof on his RV, he explained that he thinks he has a fiberglass roof. He explains that the roof looks like it is covered with cloth, that has tears in it. He wants to know what he can put on the roof to seal it, and I am at a loss to know what exactly is this cloth looking covering is, so my question is, does any one know what kind of roof he has and what would be best to seal the roof?Thanks Johnnie

Maybe your friend should send you a pic of the roof.

We'd have to see pics and know for sure if it's fiberglass or rubber and how extensive the damage is. It's possible that Eternabond tape might work if it's not too bad.

My money is on it being an EPDM (rubber) roof. Fiberglas looks like plastic or Fiberglas, not something with tears in it. Year, make, model would be a great help.

I'd guess TPO but what make/model of RV is this?bumpy

I have been helping our Daughter look for good bumper pull and actually saw one that the roof had been repaired by stretching a blue plastic tarp down then using white mobile home roof sealant brushed on.serious.i couldn't believe somebody would try to pass that off as repaired.

It appears to be a 17 year old rubber roof with lots of coatings of something. The roof has expired. Have it replaced. No fixing at this stage of its age.

that looks to me to be on it's last legs, somebody who is familiar with old disintegrating epdm/tpo could advise on coating it but I would plan on replacing it myself. it does not appear to be that solid to me and coating wouldn't cure that.

It needs a good bath and then treatment. Eternal on might work, depending on the size and number of tears.

That is NOT a fiberglass roof. Rubber or some other fabric like material.
