RV water hoses and pocket hoses

As someone said the effect on SUN on the plastic hose plays a big part of why they are bad for drinking water less they are speciically drinking water rated.

If you are filling the storage tank, You let it run a bit and then fill the tank, water does not remain in the hose long enough or bad things to happen.

I've used my pocket hose several times now. The only problem I have had is with the quarter turn valve on teh end, it broke the first time I used it, HOSE worked good (Wal*mart Pocket Hose) but I do not use it all that often,, Basically when washing the RV 2x a year or when filling from a far of hydrent (also 2x a year).

But when I wash the MH I notice the hose wants to "Shink" a bit when I start spraying. Epically if Im using an old pressure regulator at the hydrant. (Which I do not do when washing) and the pressure drops a bit.

This can put strain on things best not strained.

NOTE: To the person who said "The ends blew off..." Where I'll be parked next week they warn you about the water pressure, well over 100PSI, they have measured and recorded in the park... Many hoses have been blown apart there, This is why Park-Regulator-----hose-------Filter (inside wet bay out of sun)-Hose-Inlet.

Yea - and when I was a kid they built houses with materials like flooring, insulation, and siding made with asbestos. As the planet continues to spin, humans tend to get smarter about this kind of stuff - well, at least some humans...

My experience -- Worthless.

First use, hose connector blew about 1 hour into first use. Called they would only honor warrenty, if I had original receipt. Bought it several months ago. No idea where a receipt for a 19 dollar item would be. The voice at the other end had a difficult time understanding me and I him.

Threw it away.

Bad to drink from a plastic hose, but OK to drink from a plastic glass or bottle. :? :h

When I hook to the water, I let it run a short period the smell it and if it passes that I taste it before I connect the coach to it. Habit

I bought one and it blew the 3rd time I used it. but, with a lifetime warranty I took it back to Walgreens and they gave me a refund no questions asked. So I bought another. It has lasted over a year now. Must also be safe as I have filled my tanks in both my TC and TT. Maybe I also became immune from drinking out of hoses in the 50's/60's!!!

Even before the pocket hose I would never drag out the "white" hose while at home. Just grab the garden hose. But I do let it run for a couple minutes just to wash out any frogs/snakes/etc. :B

The "problem" with garden water hoses and the reason they say not for drinking water is that they pick up the taste of the hose if water is in them for any length of time. No problem to drink out of the hose as it is being used but drink water after it has not been flowing and you will not like it at all. Not sure if the taste is caused by anything considered toxic or not.
