RV wrecks - to many

http://www.kiro7.com/news/local/7-patients-involved-in-hwy-101-rollover-crash-near-olympia/386799660

Hope everyone had a safe long weekend. To many of these RV trailer wrecks lately.
  • Glad everyone appears to be ok. The other thing I noticed, Bikes on the rear. That reduces tongue weight and adds more weight at the end of the pendulum behind the tires that are suppose to hole the pendulum stead.
  • There are rvers and there are people who buy rvs and tow them with the family everyday vehicle. The accidents are caused by themselves. Its still horrible, but inevitable, same with the boating accidents. Perhaps someday there will be a mandatory license and road test required. Until then watch your 6!
  • Had a guy w/ a newer GM dually pass me on the NYS T-Way doing at least 75 to 80 mph w/ a TT!

That is three I have heard of in Washington and Oregon this weekend.
One north bound I5 at MP 18
One on 101 north of Newport car crossed into MH path
One on 101 at Mud Bay near Olympia (This wreck)
All looked bad, but it seems the one near Olympia was the worst.

Hope the worst was minor injuries.
  • Horrible.. the roof is crushed flat.. I sure hope those folks made it out okay.

Of note.. the SUV appears to be a Vortec 5.7l (90's) era Suburban 1500. The trailer is a larger sticks and tin TT with a full size super slide. IIRC the Suburban had a 5500-6500 ish tow rating during this time frame.

    Thanks!
