RVI 2

We have upgraded to the RVI 2 and added the tire sensors for the toad, a Jeep Wrangler. Normally on a motorhome , the sensors would go on metal valve stems but the Wrangler has rubber stems. Has anyone used the RVI 2 sensors on rubber stems and had any problems. Thanks
  • I have changed tires on my Wrangler and the OEM sensors are attached to the valve stems. Can they be separated. I do not know. I think I will go with the sensors on the original stems and remove them when not towing. Good luck with your 32SC. Nexus seems to be the only manufacturers making a super C in the 32 to 34 length. We are looking forward to using ours this summer.
  • I've not had any problems with Pressure Pro sensors on my 2013 Wrangler with stock valve stems. I was told, but I never verified, that the valve stems are intregal to the Wrangler's built-in tire pressure sensors and couldn't be changed. (BTW we pickup our new 2016 Nexus 32SC at the end of June.)
  • What does the mfr of the sensors recommend? Go with that. A tire store can fix you up for $20 or $30. I know that for my TST sensors, metal stems are recommended.
  • Haven't used the RVI 2 system specifically, but I have heard of several cases where folks have had issues when using TPMS sensors on the end of rubber valve stems. Seems to cause the valve stems to leak.

Generally speaking, when you use TPMS sensors that attach on the end of valve stems, its a really, really good idea to go to metal valve stems. I've even seen where some TPMS manufacturers will recommend such.
