There is a Facebook organization ProBoneO which is specific for service animal handlers and owners. Just peer to peer information on a monitored site.
We travel everywhere with my wife's service dog, a standard poodle. We have never been questioned in the USA but we have needed to justify the animal when traveling outside to other countries. So here is what we did...not required by anyone, but how we handled the situation:
We used a private trainer who worked with us for the first year. We documented in a letter the name and references for the trainer.
We have a letter from the veterinarian that the poodle is a service dog under her care, as when we cross borders, north or south, we need a current health certificate. My wife's ophthalmologist wrote a letter documenting her visual impairment and the need for a service animal.
Naturally the poodle has a vest and a dog tag.
All documents are available when we travel, and they have also been copied in miniature format on business card stock and they are attached to the dogs vest.
Again, we have never had a problem. None of the above is required by law. However, with all this documentation I doubt the RV park would try to enforce a restriction.
Also, even though I am not required to pay a fee for a service dog I do not complain if I am charged $2 a day, especially if the facility has a well maintained dog run.
Happy Trails.
