I used to work closely with a Seeing Eye organization and did a lot of puppy raising. I used to take the dogs camping with me as part of their "exposure" training and never abused the "service dog" ******** that goes on these days.
IF a campground had a "no dogs" rule - I would not stay there as a dog in training is technically NOT a service dog. A seeing eye dog only becomes a bonafide service dog AFTER it graduates and is paired up with a blind person - only at that point does it fall under the ADA rules.
The OP stated that they have a 5 month dog "in training" - so technically it NOT a service dog. What I don't understand though is that service dogs are trained by organizations and NOT by the disabled person; After the dog graduates it is then matched to a person (this is quite involved);
Could the OP elaborate on why/how they are training the "new" dog? this is highly unusual/ What type of service dog?
This "service" dog epidemic is getting totally out of control, I've seen many people who have totally untrained dogs with a "service dog" vest walking into restaurants/malls etc and "claiming" they are "comfort" animals - this total BS - and undermining those people who REALLY need service dogs.
