5 months seems young. Interesting, what is the dog being trained to do?

Guide dogs start their training as early as 7 months; they are placed with foster families at 12 weeks (at least Guide Dogs in Boring, Oregon does it that way)
her primary service work will training to do sound alerting since I am completely deaf without hearing aids and basic mobility (stopping at overhangs, curbs that I am about to step off, steps, etc)
You generally start behavioral training first, learning how to do leash, greet, and other basic commands as she won't actually start her service training for another year at least but she is classified as a service dog in training as that is what her sole purpose is for (legally speaking).
