This whole things started with beach residents whineing about the smoke in their homes, nothing more. Someone thought it would be a good idea to get AQMD involved because they weren't getting any traction with their complaining, now its the AQMD making a deal about it. There is no money trail, no payoffs, no Calif and AQMD sticking their noses in. They were invited by a bunch of people akin to moving in next to an airport then complaining about the noise from a facility that's been there 50 years longer than they have, and that's a national problem. It's the old NIMBY syndrome again, and very likely by campers with a completely different attitude when camping themselves.
