When I kidded her about the above - she said, "What's wrong with saying you all? - That's the way we always say it".

I am a northerner, but was told by a Floridian (old Florida, not a NYC transplant) that y'all applied when referring to one person, or at most 2 or 3. Any more than that and the correct term was "All y'all"
