Safety for Children at a campground
I have been camping most of my life and never thought of anything other kids and fire safety and watching for cars. Well, I have been in a campground that does not allow seasonal stays. In fact they only let you stay 2 weeks max. They have two spaces that they have reserved long term for Johns Hopkins patients though and I am one of them. So I have become very friendly with the manager and the work campers as well. I was saying good bye today as we will finally be going home tomorrow and over the radio comes a call tht a 3 year old child was missing. The first thing they do is one of the employees in a golf cart rushes up to the main gate and locks it down. Then he inspects every vehicle before they are let out. They call the police and start searching the campground and all the cabins and hiking trails by golf cart. Much faster than walking. I will say they found the little guy on a balcony facing the woods in an empty cabin and he was happily playing. The parents should watch better but the interesting part is that they had a plan and it took second for everyone to do their job. This is something I have never thought of or about and I was a cop. I guess, I still think of camping as a family event with families and I know better but never put it on this level. So watch your kids closely.
