Really, I thought they would check over these units when they arrived, not months later when someone had purchased them.
Most RV dealerships are family owned, private business and each has it's own established set of operating practices so how can you automatically
assume this to be the case? :) I know for a fact that when my own local dealer receives new trailers from the factory or takes used ones in on trade that within days every unit undergoes a full inspection and is cleaned thoroughly so it can be displayed on the lot. Any deficiencies are noted and if possible repaired right then and there but if parts are required they're ordered immediately, with the repair scheduled when those parts arrive. Once an offer to purchase has been made on a unit and financing has been processed the unit is immediately scheduled for a complete PDI. On the day the new owner picks up the unit one of the techs will install the hitch equipment (if required) and then go through an extensive orientation with the new owner to explain the various aspects of the unit and answer any questions the buyer may have. While the hitch is being installed the new owner usually heads to the parts store where staff are more than willing to answer any questions they may have about accessories for leveling, powering the trailer, feeding it water, dealing with the tanks, etc, etc, etc. Obviously, some dealerships are better at this than others but to make a blanket statement that units are "not checked over until months after they arrive" is simply not the case at all. Having previously owned quite a few recreational vehicles yourself you should know better than this. :R
