you guys are way to close-minded...
These trucks are designed for travelling on roads no matter what condition that road is in. IE, if the road is washed out, oh well, keep on going, if the road is muddy, oh well keep on going. They are intended for travelling 3rd world countries where roads usually consist of dirt/mud.
I would do this in a heartbeat if finances allowed.
And very few N.A. made RV's would make it even close to as far as these guys have gone (that includes a truck and camper).
They aren't designed for roads that are 6 feet wide with a rock wall on one side and a cliff on the other. They are not designed for roads where the tree branches hang low over the road. There is a lot of places these things can't go just because of their size.
Sigh.. And neither are any of the RV's designed here..but I can garruntee that those "units" would make it alot farther across mexico/central america/south america than our silly RV's. Maybe you should go spend some time on google.. (hint...expedition...)
Maybe you should read what I originally wrote that you were calling close minded. I don't RV in Central or South America or Mexico.
