There's many places you can't go, that I can by walking.. Comparing an expedition vehicle to a quad.. What's the point in comparing apples to oranges? Can you quad carry a motorbike, food, generator, bed (4 season) and the kitchen sink? OH, and not to mention, be secure.
They don't go offroading (what you eluded to earlier), they go on expeditions.. Which is taking the road less travelled (literally), but it's still a road (loose definition..for arguments sake).
