If any of you folks are of the mind to protect yourself with lethal force, and I'm not suggesting you should, that's in individual decision that should be well thought-out, but if you do, MAKE SURE YOU IDENTIFY ANY POSSIBLE TARGETS POSITIVELY! The law does not look favorabley on those who fire indiscriminately out of bare fear. Castle doctrine or not, the three legged stool of legal justification still applies: Ability, opportunity, and jeapardy. That means, have a light, ferpetessake! A good one! If it's bright enough, it too can be a valuable weapon, even against critters. Blinding an adversary is a good first strategy in any case.
