Scare light

Why not replace the lamps with LED lamp replacement?

I just replaced the bulb with an LED on my last TT. Happily the new trailers don't have them.

I replaced my about a year age. Bought this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZZMN4M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . It don't appear to be available any longer but there should be similar ones available. Yes, it is brighter that my original light.

I put up a solar light above the door that's motion activated. Besides being SUPER bright as a security light, it activates when I'm trying to find the key and open the door. Works great. I mounted it with heavy duty velcro and has never come off over a few years. I initially got it from Costco I believe, but similar things could be located on Amazon or eBay.

I have exactly zero use for my scare lights. I wish there was some sort of "rotating disco ball" fixture I could put inside of those domes. At least then I'd have something cool to use them for.

I replaced the one on the door side with this one:

I am very pleased. I used Dicor caulking to close up the wiring hole after using wire nuts, taping them up, and pushing them inside the hole so the fixture sat flush.

That's an important difference, no large opening into the fixture for the wire nuts. It was simple, though.

I also sealed around the fixture with Dicor, same as any other fixture. No sense getting water or debris under there.

It's a little more blue-daylight than the yellow, but EXTREMELY nice when we were at the Crater of Diamonds CG, facing the woods (not towards anyone) and provided reasonable but not harsh light in our area in the eve.

We did have a little rattle in it, one of the tiny screws inside had been jarred loose. I put it back in place, no problems and all the LEDs worked.

Really easy on the batteries when boondocking, too.

I bought two of these at costco, funny thing is I have mounted one on the house and it has been going on two years, but have not got around to trying it out on the rv as we have not taken it out for two years now.
But they are nice and it has lasted well outside on the house.

Nearly the same as DiskDoctr, I purchased the same light but I used regular outdoor caulk. Keep in mind that the LED's are polarity sensitive vs the 12V bulb that used to be in that housing. (turn it on before mounting and caulking...)

I like the light and would do it again.

For me no scare lights would be good news. Those things are nasty bright and seems I always run into someone that is scared. :R

First thing i did with my scare sight is remove the bulb and install a smaller wattage one. i use it once in a while when camping at the daughter's where there is zero outside lighting.
