That should go without saying...but...not everyone gets it. Don't shoot through closed doors or assume that's a bad guy in the dark outside. It only takes a split second to pull that trigger and you can't take a bullet back.
No, it absolutely doesn't "go without saying", because when the adrenaline starts pumping and the blood goes away from the parts of your brain where you're used to it being, you'll do things you wouldn't ordinarily do. This is not a guess, it's a proven fact. The responses that go along with the justifiable use of deadly force must be trained-in, and even that's not a guarantee. Huge responsibility and too many people take it lightly. Stay safe!
