The panic button on your car remote can be a great tool but it’s not the end all safety feature a lot of people think it is.
Think about it, you are boon docking in a remote location and have something going on outside so you trigger the panic button on the remote. Who is going to hear it? To make matters worse once the alarm is going off are you going to be able to hear what's going on or are you going to be surprised when the trailer door comes open.
As for using the panic button around the city its hit and miss, I hear a car alarm about once a week in my neighborhood and usually wait at least a minute to see if it’s going to turn off before I might check it out. Last week I heard a car alarm going off and after a couple minutes I realized it was my own alarm that the 2 year old grandson had set off while messing around with grandma's keys.
I would not just jump in the drives seat and take off like some scared jack rabbit either, there could have been any number of reasons for the sound outside the trailer. What happened if there was a car accident and someone was looking for help? God forbid someone collapse outside the RV and in your haste to run away you run them over finishing them off.
There’s living your life being aware and prepared then there’s living your life scared, I choose aware and prepared.
