Many years ago we pulled into a campground and noticed that everyone had chains and padlocks around their ice chests. We laughed and wondered what everyone was so worried about -- after all, who would want to steal our food? We set up our tent and left our cooler on the table for the night. Lo and behold, we hear a ruckus in the middle of the night. DH pokes his head out the tent and almost gets attacked by the raccoon who is enjoying our bacon. DH pulls his head back in and zips the tent, hoping the coon will leave when his dinner is done. Apparently, everyone in the area (but us) knew that the coons had learned how to open the latches on their coolers!
