Some great and amusing stories here, although probably not funny at the time. I will add lions and buffaloes and bears oh my!
I was backpacking in the sierras one night after I went to be something tripped over one of the guy wires on my tent. When I went out in the morning there were mountain lion tracks circling my tent.
Backpacking on Catalina Island I woke up to a lot of snorting and stomping when I looked out of the tent their was a herd of buffalo walking through my campsite. They were on their way to the beach where they played in the surf just like puppies. Quite a site to see.
And finally, Tent camping in Yosemite National park one night I woke up to my neighbors yelling. I looked out the tent and saw the largest bear I have ever seen in our camp looking at me. I yelled at it and threw a few pine cone and it ambled off. My son had left a backpack with some crackers in the back of the truck. The bear went through the camper shell window to get it. Wife would not go back to Yosemite for years.
