It depends on your insurance carrier.
I told mine I would be moving from time-to-time and they were fine with the plan. Check with your insurance company for correct information.

Make sure you purchase full-timers coverage/policy and it isn't an issue as it is expected that you will be moving around. We use a mail forwarding service in Sioux City SD and purchased insurance thru the Dougherty & Assoc in the same town - best rate for us was with Progressive - a full-timers policy and coverages. The address you use on everything is the address assigned to you by your mail fowarding service when you become a resident. That address is then also used as your "garaged" location.

National Interstate specializes in RV Full Timers insurance AND companion auto.

Get quote thru broker.....Explorer RV or Millers Ins.

Under 65/not on Medicare can be a issue for SD Full Timers

No issues with filing a claim out of state. We received some damage from a rock off a gravel truck on good road while in Alaska. Cracked the windshield and dented the hood. Had it repaired after we returned to the lower 48. We are full timers and have our full timer RV insurance and auto insurance bundled because we get a better rate. We did not have to return to SD to get repairs.

I have Medicare (original), Parts A, B, and D.

I do not have Medigap though.

We went through Dougherty in Sioux Falls. We thought we had a suitable full timers policy until we had a claim and found we had insufficient coverage. After a lot of looking at policies Dougherty set us up with a National Interstate policy.

BTW, I have no idea what you mean by a "garaging address." Your new address will be your mail forwarding address. This address issue has been discussed in other threads. It will not impact your insurance policy. But the idea of being "homeless" and nomadic bothers some financial institutions. Even the Federal government sometimes doesn't get it. Social security stated that I had to apply with a "permanent" address and a mail box was not sufficient. I just attached a short note to the application and I never heard anything. The application was processed.

I checked with my ins co, SF and they said if I used SD as my home base my ins would go up do to having so many hail storms up there. Not sure what the increase would be as I haven't done that yet.

I never thought of that. I was in Arkansas recently. We had golf ball size hail in April. Cracked my windshield, made numerous small dents in my car, broke my windshield wiper, and moved the position of the side view mirror. It was loud and scary to be in the car. I thought every window was going to break.

How did SSA know it was a mail forwarder? Whenever I have used private mail carriers like The UPS Store, I write:

123 Main St., #332 (my PMB)
City, State, Zip

I do not write "PMB" or "Box". This is a dead giveaway. Otherwise, banks rebate companies might give you problems.

Also, for "garaging", that is an auto insurance term. They want to know where your car will be kept at night (or "garaged"), to calculate your rate
