I am the guilty party that started this brew-ha-ha I guess. So 45 responses later I am on the fence regarding safe keeping certain items. But I have come to the conclusion based on all of the responses that (1) my basement doors lock against steel not alluminum as one posts suggests (soI feel good about that); (2) a safe is good for some or not so for others (it comes down to one's comfort level. So, I am probably going to not purchase a safe but rather utilize the space(s) I have on-board to place my computer, cameras, etc. In other words, continue what I've been doing. Thanks to all who posted remarks and a special thanks to "Bumpy" who took a lot of heat on this one.
