Driverless vehicles with respect to riders who just want to get somewhere while doing whatever they want have been available for decades ... the last time I checked they were called "taxies".
Rich folks have them sitting out front full time merely waiting for their order to go wherever the rich folks want without them having to drive.
The rest of us have to pick up the mobile phone or stick our arm out while standing on the curb for us to order up transportation to go wherever we want without us having to drive.
I worked in the integrated circuit ("chip") industry for over 32 years testing for reliability/failure problems in them and have also struggled with multiple computers and their various software/hardware problems for years - starting with the PC Junior, so ..... I'll never trust a driveless vehicle any further than I can throw it.
Sometimes I think that modern futurists/engineers/designers/marketing-jocks have watched the original Blade Runner flick way too many times.
