You are not totally retiring, you are gearing down. I did this at a much younger age than you for much the same reasons that others have mentioned above. I have not been sorry. It isn't like you are throwing it all to the winds and becoming a bum. You've looked at your finances and your lifestyle and are not being irresponsible. Do be sure to consider inflation, health care coverage, and an emergency fund.
