I haven't had a car accident in 35 years. However, I still buy insurance (and obviously required to do so), and haven't had to file a claim.
I carry a weapon with me, and if I go (or plan to go) in states that my state does not have reciprocity, I make a decision to either (a) leave the weapon at home or (b) not go. I have yet to feel the need to use it, and good lord willing, I never will.
This is certainly a polarizing subject, but it never ceases to amaze me how people jump immediately to stating if one is so scared to camp without a weapon, they ought to stay home. It is not a binary answer. One can be prepared without being paranoid. There is a huge difference.
