Ok. I asked the agent my questions and here is what she said (which does not quite jive with me so we might stick with our Progressive policy):
"Any physical damage to the trailer regardless of the source will be covered by the trailer policy. That means if it is being towed and is wrecked, if it is stolen, if a tree falls on it, if it catches fire, etc. It does not matter if it is parked or is being towed.
The liability coverage extends from the vehicle that is towing it so the trailer policy does not include any liability coverage. By liability, I mean that if you are involved in an at- fault accident where the trailer damages another car (say it is comes loose and strikes a car or another trailer) then your auto insurance policy would pay for any damages that the trailer caused to the other property.
Any personal effects inside the trailer are covered by your renters policy. We do not offer that coverage and we do not offer "vacation liability".
Our trailer policy covers any physical damage to the trailer and that is the extent of the coverage. There are no other provisions for any other coverage."
