OK, just blame it on the IT techs! After being one for many years, I understand, and really hope that others do also, that in most cases, weekends and Holiday weekends are the best times to do any upgrades and repairs. Especially those that will involve any outage. Computer software being what it is, there will always be some upgrades that require that the systems be taken down and restarted. Even thow it bothers a lot of us, Many folks are either on vacation or off time, and do not even realize that things have been down. That's just the way it is, and if we expect good service, it's just one of the prices. Then also, whenever these possibly major upgrades are being done, there is always a very good chance that something will go wrong.
