This worked well for us. The PVC was 3" dia and should have been 4" - would have worked better. The PVC was used to roll our outdoor carpet/rug when storing/traveling. The indoor/outdoor carpet was cut from a 12 foot wide roll - 7 1/2 feet long. When rolled it would just fit in the basement across the rig.

Supports - 1/4" dia rod with 3/4" wide 6" strap welded to one end. I was fortunate to have a son working in a fab shop to make the supports - powder-coated to boot. Stored in a piece of 1 1/2" pvc (insert image) just longer than the longest rod to keep from poking holes in air mattresses and tearing the carpet in the basement of our 5th wheel.
