Sewing/knitting/ crafting on the road

I make doll clothes while camping or do needlepoint. Neither take up too much room if I can control myself. In May I stopped at two church Rummage sales and bought way too much fabric, lace and yarn. Not that it was my fault as the last day things were a dollar a bag.

Query: what is "spendy"?

I am thinking that when I get ready to fulltime, I will be able to find a MH with bunk slide that I can disassemble and turn into craft "room". I have an antique thread box mounted on legs, that I plan to shorten and use as a desk in the bunkroom to work my crafts on. I envision that the bunk area should be plenty big for that box and a couple of storage cabinets, so it can be my office craft room.

Hoping to have room for sewing machine and storage for papercrafts as well crochet/cross-stitch supplies.

I enjoyed reading all of your replies. Thank you. Pinterest is a great suggestion and I will check that out. I've always wanted to work on a loom, but it gets a little spendy for me. I will check out the ones suggested though.

We've learned a lot from other RVers' with hobbies matching our interests. That's how we became involved in dutch ovening and metal detecting.

You can get a small folding weaving loom like a Leclerc Voyager and weave when on the road. You can also get a small band loom like the Wave from Gilmore looms.

Are you wanting to make things to sell at fairs, etc, or just for your own enjoyment?

I have a friend who quilted a quilt by the square. I think she used a embroidery hoop to do it. She isn't full time so I think she put it together at home but she does have a small sewing machine in the RV.

I agree with this answer. Another way to learn......don't be shy asking other women you meet at RV parks or campgrounds if they crochet and if they do it left-handed. GREAT ice breaker.....and you might find a great teacher for FREE! I've kinda learned to knit by using the YouTube videos. :) Yeah...I can knit....but can't purl!!!!! I need to try that again.....

If you are still interested in learning to crochet, you can Google "left handed learn to crochet" and find videos on YouTube. I took a beginning crochet class in Tulsa and was so frustrated that I walked out and felt that I had paid for a worthless class. I decided to try again and learned to crochet last year by watching YouTube videos. Now I can crochet faster than I can knit!
