Shaw GM-0700 portable satellite dish

We are considering buying a Shaw carry out portable satellite dish for our travel trailer. We realize this dish will only work in Canada. I'd like some input from someone who is using this dish. Can this system be screwed into the cable outlet on a travel trailer and then, inside, be screwed first to the Shaw satellite receiver and then to the TV? What powers the system and where would this be plugged in? I've read that it requires an inverter that is bought separately. Our trailer is wired with a 2000 watt inverter which powers all our electrical plugs.

  • If your existing setup has an outside connector AND a roof-top antenna with an amplifier, you can't use the existing outside connector as it goes through the amplifier switch & the sat signal can't get through it. You have to add another outside connection that goes directly to your sat receiver from the dish.
  • Looks to be a std Carryout antenna. The "converter" gives you 12v DC from 120v AC. all you need is a 12v source, be it a cigarette lighter, or a source you have made a connection to. I added a plug in my refer compartment for my Carryout.
